Nalgonda: Khammam district collector Anudeep Durishetty on Thursday said that Khammam would emerge as a leading destination in tourism development by completing the ongoing project works.

He inspected the development works at the Buddha Stupa in Nelakondapally and the Khammam Fort.

Speaking on the occasion, he said the state government has decided to develop Khammam Fort into a major tourist attraction and has sanctioned Rs 29 crore for the construction of a ropeway. Land acquisition for the project has already been completed. He instructed officials to begin ropeway construction at Khammam Fort within a week. He expressed confidence that the ropeway and other tourism-related works would help restore the fort’s former glory.
