Collector Distributes Sewing Machines, Urges Life Skills

Speaking on the occasion, Satpathy announced the appointment of instructors to train students in using the sewing machines and urged staff to make full use of these resources to help students become more skilled and self-reliant.

KARIMNAGAR: District collector Pamela Satpathy emphasised the need to teach life skills alongside academic subjects in government schools. At an event held on Wednesday at the KGBV in Saptagiri Colony, Karimnagar, she and additional collector of local bodies Ashwini Tanaji Wakade distributed two sewing machines to each of the 14 Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas. They also provided refrigerators and mosquito-control devices for 11 girls’ hostels in model schools across the district.

Speaking on the occasion, Satpathy announced the appointment of instructors to train students in using the sewing machines and urged staff to make full use of these resources to help students become more skilled and self-reliant. She recommended integrating basic vocational courses into the school curriculum so that interested students can acquire useful skills for the future. Satpathy also encouraged students to practice discipline and effective time management.

Later, the collector inspected the school premises, storeroom, and kitchen, reviewing the quality of food supplies. She issued specific instructions to staff to adhere strictly to the approved meal plan and warned that any negligence would result in disciplinary action.
