CMC Seeks Criminal Action Against Owner of Collapsed Building
The CMC had issued a showcause notice to owners Farheen Siddiq and Md Sajid on June 17, alleging that the building was being constructed without the required building permission and without maintaining the prescribed setbacks.

Hyderabad:The Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) has sought criminal action against Syed Sajid, owner of the collapsed seven-storey building in Anjaiahnagar, after revealing that a showcause notice had already been served over alleged unauthorised construction in June.
The CMC had issued a showcause notice to owners Farheen Siddiq and Md Sajid on June 17, alleging that the building was being constructed without the required building permission and without maintaining the prescribed setbacks.
Following the collapse, the assistant city planner of Circle 50, Madhapur, submitted a report seeking registration of a criminal case against the two owners and others under appropriate provisions of law. The report alleged that the owners had continued construction without the required permissions and in violation of prescribed norms. It also cited the “apparent use of poor-quality construction materials” and absence of proper technical supervision as factors that contributed to the collapse.
The collapse now puts the spotlight on what happened after the June 17 notice was served. With the civic body having flagged the construction for alleged violations more than two months before the tragedy, questions are likely to be raised over how the construction continued and whether timely enforcement could have prevented the disaster.
