CMC Plans 10,000 SHGs, Child-Friendly Initiative Across 76 Wards
Women’s livelihoods, street vending and children’s civic needs in focus

The Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) plans to form 10,000 self-help froups (SHGs) to strengthen women’s livelihoods and improve access to bank loans, while launching a child-friendly initiative to understand children’s civic needs across 76 wards.
CMC commissioner Dr G. Srujana, reviewing urban community development (UCD) and MEPMA activities at the CMC head office, directed officials to prepare circle-wise targets for forming SHGs and improve bank linkages within five months.
She instructed officials to constitute town vending committees in every circle and identify suitable locations for eligible street vendors affected by encroachment removal drives. She directed officials to strengthen night shelters and coordinate with the police and other agencies to support vulnerable people and children.
The civic body will also establish Indira Mahila Shakti canteens at all circle offices, zonal offices and the CMC Head Office. Canteens at all circle offices are targeted to become operational by December 31. Officials were also directed to maintain circle-wise records of saree distribution and pending cases. As part of the child-friendly CMC initiative, the corporation, in collaboration with Unicef, will identify 152 resource persons across 76 wards to gather children’s views on their neighbourhoods and civic requirements. A Listening to Children campaign is tentatively scheduled for November 20–23.
