CMC Food Safety Drive Finds Hygiene Violations at Zepto, Cancels License of Alsaba
Notices issued to KFC, Burger King, Fire Water Neo Bar

Hyderabad:The Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) on Thursday uncovered multiple food safety and hygiene violations during inspections at five food establishments, including Zepto, Alsaba Restaurant, Fire Water Neo Bar & Kitchen, Burger King and KFC, leading to improvement notices and enforcement action.
The most serious violations were found at Zepto, Narsingi and Alsaba Restaurant, Gachibowli. At Zepto, inspectors found unclean racks, floors, walls and ceilings, food waste, improper storage of food without pallets, poor segregation of food and non-food items, unclean air curtains and the FSSAI licence not displayed. The outlet scored 30 out of 60 (50%) in the hygiene assessment. The operator was directed to stop accepting orders temporarily until complete cleaning and rectification were carried out.
At Alsaba Restaurant, officials observed improperly stored meat, unhygienic wash areas with water stagnation and fly infestation, poor conditions in the slaughtering section, lack of hot-water sanitisation of utensils and absence of medical fitness certificates and water testing reports. The restaurant scored 69 out of 150 (46%), following which, authorities initiated action to suspend its FSSAI licence and ordered the restaurant to remain closed until compliance is ensured.
At Fire Water Neo Bar & Kitchen in the financial district, officials discarded unlabelled food items and expired mushrooms on the spot and issued an improvement notice after detecting improper food labelling, unsupported shelf-life claims and storage violations.
Meanwhile, Burger King, Puppalaguda and KFC, Alkapuri Township, received improvement notices for minor deficiencies despite scoring 93% and 94%, respectively, in hygiene assessments.
