CMC And MMC Conduct Food Safety Drives On Monday

Food safety inspections uncover major hygiene lapses at two manufacturing units, while Cyberabad restaurants earn high hygiene scores.

Hyderabad: Two food manufacturing units in the Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation (MMC) area were found operating under unhygienic conditions, while several restaurants in the Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) area received high hygiene scores during routine food safety inspections on Monday.

MMC officials observed serious hygiene lapses at Siddivinayaka Foods which scored 53 out of 100, and Golden Foods, which manufactures Osmania biscuits, 58.

At Siddivinayaka Foods, officials found food stored directly on the floor, poor personal hygiene among workers, rusty storage racks, cobwebs, inadequate lighting and ventilation, housefly infestation and poor housekeeping at the units.

At Golden Foods, manufacturing and packaging were found to be taking place under unhygienic conditions, while pest control records and insect-proof measures were absent. They were issued Improvement notices.

At Cyberabad, officials pointed to minor shortcomings. At ITLU Veg Diner, unlabelled food items were discarded on the spot, while water stagnation, dust in the store room and misleading claims on bottled water labels were also noticed. Improvement notices will be issued. At Pista House Fine Dining at Preston Mall, officials asked the management to provide water testing reports and improve storage arrangements. Roast 24×7 at Gachibowli and KFC at Shilpakala Vedika were instructed to address minor maintenance issues.

KFC topped Monday’s ratings at 96 per cent, followed by Roast 24×7 95, Pista House Fine Dining 90 and ITLU Veg Diner in Financial District at 82 per cent.
