KARIMNAGAR: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy held a crucial meeting with senior leaders and party functionaries here on Tuesday to boost the morale of Congressmen following the exit of veteran leader T. Jeevan Reddy from the party.
During the meeting held at the CM’s residence in Jubilee Hills, Revanth Reddy urged the cadre to remain resilient. “The Congress party’s strength lies in its workers rather than in any single individual,” he asserted.
The meeting was attended by ministers Tummala Nageswara Rao and Adluri Laxman Kumar, MP Vem Narendar Reddy, MLA Sanjay Kumar and Jagtial DCC president Nandaiah, among others.
Revanth Reddy expressed disappointment over Jeevan Reddy’s shift to the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS). He noted that the Congress had consistently honoured the veteran leader, even offering him a ticket for the Nizamabad Parliamentary seat in 2024 at his request and ensuring his family’s political future was protected.
It was deeply painful, he said, to see a leader of such stature standing with folded hands before KCR, the very individual he fought against for decades. The CM accused Jeevan Reddy of mortgaging the self-respect of Jagtial’s Congress workers at the feet of the BRS leadership.
Revanth Reddy clarified that while he had never spoken a word to diminish Jeevan Reddy’s dignity, the veteran’s stubborn decision to join hands with the BRS, a party the Congress fought against actively, was a betrayal of the 40 years of service rendered by local party loyalists.
Responding to the CM’s call, the Jagtial delegation pledged their unwavering loyalty to the Congress. The leaders affirmed that despite the departure of a senior leader, they would work collectively to carry the government’s welfare schemes to the grassroots and ensure the party returns to power for a second term.
They emphasised that their commitment to the ‘People’s Government’ remained unshaken.
Closing the meeting, the chief minister promised to visit Jagtial soon to interact directly with the field-level workers. He commended the leaders for “choosing the party over personal interests” and assured them of full support in developing the constituency.
“Time will decide who is right and who is wrong,” Revant Reddy told the Congress cadre, emphasising also that the focus must now shift towards strengthening the party’s foundation in northern Telangana.
