CM Revanth To Inaugurate Dr MCR Tims Today

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy will inaugurate the Dr Marri Channa Reddy Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences (Dr MCR Tims) at Sanathnagar on Monday, with three major blocks — Emergency, Out Patient and In Patient. The hospital has a bed capacity of 1,082, including 88 emergency beds, 30 dialysis beds, 300 ICU beds, 400 general beds and 264 beds earmarked for medical tourism, EHS and other categories.

Designed as a Centre of Excellence in cardiac, renal, transplant and trauma sciences, the institution will offer services in cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, vascular surgery, nephrology, urology, dialysis, organ transplantation, gastro sciences, neurology, neurosurgery, orthopaedics and general surgery. It will house 37 departments, including 28 clinical and nine specialised departments.

Facilities include 15 major operation theatres, trauma and neuro critical care units, cath labs, radiation oncology and nuclear medicine services, PET‑CT, LINAC and brachytherapy. Dedicated beds have been allocated for EHS beneficiaries and medical tourism patients.

Spread across 53.30 acres with a built‑up area of 11.68 lakh sq ft, the ₹1,126‑crore facility comprises an LG+G+5‑floor structure. The project cost has been estimated at ₹1,126 crore. Of the 2,360 sanctioned posts, 1,988 are medical and allied positions and 372 are non‑medical. The government has highlighted medical tourism as a potential revenue source.

Health minister Damodar Rajanarsimha on Sunday reviewed arrangements for the inauguration and directed officials to ensure smooth conduct. He instructed traffic police to prepare a detailed plan to prevent disruption, arrange parking and regulate VIP and public movement. He also called for adequate security, crowd management and emergency response mechanisms.

Principal secretary, health, Dr Christina Z. Chongthu, health commissioner Dr Sangeetha Sathyanaarayana, Dr MCR Tims director Dr Narendra Kumar, GHMC commissioner R.V. Karnan, I&PR commissioner Mukund Reddy, HMWS&SB MD Ashok Reddy and additional DCP (Traffic) Venugopal Reddy attended the review meeting. The minister inspected the premises and held discussions with senior officials from the Health Department, police, GHMC, HMWSSB, I&PR and traffic police.
