CM Revanth Responds to Rahul Gandhi’s Call for Rohith Vemula Act

CM Revanth Reddy affirmed Rahul Gandhi’s call to enact the Rohith Vemula Act, pledging action against caste-based discrimination in educational institutions

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy responded emotionally and in the affirmative to a letter from AICC senior leader Rahul Gandhi, urging the enactment of the Rohith Vemula Act in Telangana to curb caste-based discrimination in educational institutions.

In a message posted on his X handle on Tuesday, Revanth Reddy said that he saw Rahul Gandhi’s letter just before visiting the statue of Mahatma Gandhi in Hiroshima in Japan.

“I read your letter in the historic city of Hiroshima, Japan. Fortuitously, I read your words just as I was about to visit the holy site of Mahatma Gandhi ji’s statue here. Deeply touched by your words, and the inspiring call for action. We will go forward with the spirit of your thoughts and feelings in making a future we can be proud of," Revanth Reddy wrote.

Rahul Gandhi, in his letter, had highlighted the urgent need to address systemic caste-based discrimination faced by students from Dalit, Adivasi, and OBC communities. Referring to historical injustices faced by B.R. Ambedkar, Rahul Gandhi had said, “No child in India should endure what Dr Ambedkar faced,” and added that the tragic deaths of students like Rohith Vemula, Payal Tadvi, and Darshan Solanki underscored the need for immediate action. “It is time to put a firm end to this,” he stated.
