Hyderabad:Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Tuesday declared February 4 as the "Telangana Social Justice Day," highlighting its historical significance for the state.

Speaking in the Assembly on Tuesday, Revanth Reddy highlighted that February 4 marked two key milestones in Telangana’s journey towards achieving social justice — the approval of the caste census decision by the Cabinet on February 4 last year, and the presentation and approval of the caste census report and SC sub-categorisation report this year.

"February 4 holds immense importance for Telangana. On this day, the Congress government has provided a permanent solution to the long-standing issues of caste census and SC sub-categorisation. To commemorate this occasion every year, February 4 will be observed and celebrated as Telangana Social Justice Day,” Revanth Reddy said.

“This decision ensures social justice for BCs, SCs, STs, and minorities, who have been historically neglected," Revanth Reddy declared amid enthusiastic applause in the House.

The Chief Minister announced that the state government will soon introduce a law to formalise the implementation of SC sub-categorisation. He assured that government orders will be issued shortly for the structured implementation of SC sub-categorisation.

He paid tributes to those who sacrificed their lives in the struggle for SC sub-categorisation in the last three decades and said the Congress government will ensure their sacrifices do not go in vain.

Revanth Reddy said that the Telangana government will extend necessary support to other states seeking to implement caste census and SC sub-classification. The Telangana government will push the central government to incorporate caste census in the upcoming national census.
