CM Revanth Puts Congress Leaders on Notice over Indiscipline

Public dissent would send the wrong message to the people and create an impression of strife within the party, he told a meeting of the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) held here on Tuesday,

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has reportedly issued a stern warning to party MLAs and leaders against making public or media statements regarding the Cabinet expansion. He said the party high command retained the final authority on the matter and any speculation or comments made at the state level would serve no purpose, according to sources.

Public dissent would send the wrong message to the people and create an impression of strife within the party, he told a meeting of the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) held here on Tuesday,

Revanth Reddy’s comments come in the wake of recent public outbursts by MLAs Komatireddy Raj Gopal Reddy, Prem Sagar Rao and Gaddam Vivek, who voiced dissatisfaction over the delay in Cabinet expansion.

Revanth Reddy made it clear that indiscipline will not be tolerated within the party ranks. “If any MLA crosses the party line, they will have to face the consequences, no matter how senior or influential they may be,” he said,

“The Congress high command will decide the timing of the Cabinet expansion and the leaders who will be inducted. There is no point in debating or quarrelling about these issues in public,” the Chief Minister stressed.

Revanth Reddy also reportedly expressed his displeasure with Bhongir MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy, criticising him for frequently speaking to the media about Cabinet prospects. “Every day, I see your comments in the media about Cabinet expansion. Every day you come up with different names. This must stop,” the Chief Minister is said to have told the Bhongir MP.

Revanth Reddy said the lack of engagement by Congress MLAs on social media platforms was affecting the party’s narrative online. While opposition parties were actively using social media to attack the Congress and government, Congress legislators remained silent and inactive online.

“A majority of our MLAs are not using social media. This digital silence is hurting the party’s narrative,” he reportedly remarked.

Revanth Reddy expressed his displeasure at the MLAs for spending more time in Hyderabad than in their constituencies. He criticised some MLAs for visiting their constituencies only on weekends and urged them to put an end to such “weekend politics.” He also proposed that MLAs contribute 25 per cent of their salaries to the party fund.
