CM Revanth: Over 15,000 From Telangana for Delhi Rally Against SIR On Nov 1
Addressing party leaders at Praja Bhavan on Friday, Revanth Reddy alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was misusing SIR to delete poor people's votes and retain power.

Hyderabad:Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has directed the Congress state leadership to mobilise 15,000 leaders and workers from Telangana for the I.N.D.I.A. bloc rally at Ramlila Maidan in Delhi on November 1 to demand the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over the special intensive revision (SIR) of the electoral roll.
Addressing party leaders at Praja Bhavan on Friday, Revanth Reddy alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was misusing SIR to delete poor people's votes and retain power. He said Rahul Gandhi was leading the fight to protect voting rights and called upon Congress leaders to make the rally a massive show of strength.
The Chief Minister claimed that nearly 13 crore votes had been deleted and alleged that the electorate had declined from 97 crore in 2024 to 84 crore now despite the country's population increasing to 140 crore. He accused Modi of attempting to reduce the electorate by 20 crore to secure a fourth term in 2029.
Revanth Reddy alleged that the BJP was creating two categories of citizens — wealthy people with voting rights and poor people without them — and taking the country towards a monarchy. He said growing unemployment and youth protests had increased opposition to Modi, while the Congress sought to unite people irrespective of caste and religion.
Drawing parallels with the freedom struggle, the Chief Minister recalled the Simon Commission constituted by the British in 1927 and the protests under the slogan 'Simon Go Back'. He said Rahul Gandhi was leading a similar movement against Gyanesh Kumar with the slogan 'Gyanesh Go Back'.
The Congress high command had asked Telangana to mobilise 10,000 to 15,000 people, but the state had more than 15,000 elected representatives and party leaders, he said. Revanth Reddy directed leaders to ensure a massive turnout and demonstrate Telangana's strength at Ramlila Maidan, as they had recently done in Sircilla.
He alleged that the BJP was using caste, religion and central agencies such as the ED and CBI to intimidate opponents. The November 1 rally should send a strong message against the alleged deletion of poor people's votes and strengthen the Congress's fight to return to power in 2029, he said.
