CM Revanth Invites Prince Rahim Aga Khan V To Telangana Global Summit

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Tuesday invited Prince Rahim Aga Khan V, the 50th hereditary Imam of the Shia Ismaili Muslims and Chairman of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), to attend the Telangana Global Summit during a meeting held at Taj Falaknuma Palace in Hyderabad. This was Prince Rahim Aga Khan's first visit to the state.
During the meeting, Revanth Reddy expressed his appreciation for the Aga Khan Foundation and its role in the restoration and conservation of heritage assets in Telangana.
The Chief Minister said the foundation had played a crucial role in restoring several heritage structures, including the Legislative Council building and the Qutb Shahi Tombs. He also said the state government was preparing plans for the rejuvenation of the Musi River and was seeking the Aga Khan Foundation’s cooperation in restoring the City College and Osmania Hospital buildings located along the Musi basin. CM Revanth also informed the Prince that a new building for Osmania Hospital was being constructed at Goshamahal, while the existing hospital building would be developed as a heritage asset. The government also plans to develop the Musi River as a hub for the night economy, he said.

Inviting Prince Rahim Aga Khan V to the Telangana Global Summit, the Chief Minister said the event would be held at Future City on December 7, 8 and 9, with representatives from more than 100 countries expected to participate.
Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla on Monday welcomed Prince Rahim Aga Khan V to the Lok Bhavan during his first official visit to India and Telangana after assuming his responsibilities. Aga Khan V highlighted the AKDN’s work in Telangana in urban renewal, community healthcare, women-led development and employment generation, and noted the significant benefits these initiatives had brought to local communities. He underscored the need to sustain and deepen the development partnership between the AKDN and Telangana.
