Revanth Orders Officials to Fix Drainage Issue at Ameerpet
Revanth Reddy inspected the situation at Maitrivanam, where floodwater had several times this month inundated the arterial road at peak hours, left vehicles stranded and caused long traffic jams.

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy during a surprise visit on Sunday interacted with residents and directed officials to find a permanent solution for serious waterlogging issues at Maitrivanam, Gangubai Basti, and Buddhanagar localities in Ameerpet.
A Class VII student, Jaswanth, complained about the floodwater at his basti and requested the Chief Minister to look into the issue. Revanth Reddy walked with the student through Gangubai Basti to see the problem for himself.
Jaswanth said that recent floods had hit the locality and rainwater entered his residence, drenching his books. Responding to the complaint, the Chief Minister asked officials to clear the nala and implement a permanent solution.
Revanth Reddy inspected the drainage systems at Gangubai Basti, Buddhanagar, and Maitrivanam and assured the residents that blockages would be cleared to allow the water to flow unimpeded. He also made several suggestions to authorities regarding precautions to be taken and actions to follow during and after heavy rain.
Revanth Reddy observed that the level of the drainage canal was higher than that of the colony road and had become narrower, increasing the intensity of flooding. Residents raised concerns about some people filling up the adjacent Gangubai Basti Kunta and using it for parking.
The Chief Minister directed officials to set up a special trunk line immediately. He inspected the situation at Maitrivanam, where floodwater had several times this month inundated the arterial road at peak hours, left vehicles stranded and caused long traffic jams.
Mohammed Khan, a resident of Buddhanagar, said he was surprised by the Chief Minister's sudden visit and felt happy that he was the first leader to visit the place regarding floodwater issues.
"The Chief Minister interacted with us just like a normal man having a conversation. Some private individuals have occupied a government place at the nala, which caused the flooding," said Mohammed Khan, who runs a shop in Buddhanagar.
Another resident of Gangubai Basti, A. Balaji, said he noticed a convoy arriving in his colony, from which the Chief Minister got down. "We told the Chief Minister to take action on the drainage water which clogged during the rains. Revanth Reddy promised to solve the issue," Balaji said.
