CM Revanth Asks Officials to Speed Up Musi Project

Telangana CM Revanth Reddy pushes for iconic Mir Alam Tank bridge, themed islands and eco-tourism around Musi

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has directed officials to accelerate the Musi River Rejuvenation Project. He instructed officials to ensure timely completion of designs and reports for key components of the Musi project, including the Gandhi Sarovar at Bapu Ghat in Langar Houz and a 2.5-km-long bridge over Mir Alam Tank.

During a review meeting here on Friday, the Chief Minister reviewed Mir Alam Tank bridge designs submitted by consultancy firms and announced that tenders would be invited in June. He instructed officials to complete all surveys, reports, and the detailed project report (DPR) beforehand.

The Chief Minister stressed that the bridge should be constructed as an architectural landmark, with focus on safety and aesthetic appeal. In addition to the bridge, the plan includes the development of three islands in Mir Alam Tank, transforming them into major tourist attractions.

Drawing inspiration from Singapore’s Gardens by the Bay, the Chief Minister proposed features such as birds’ paradise, artificial waterfalls, and other visually captivating landscapes as part of development of three islands in Mir Alam Tank.

Further proposals include setting up wedding venues, adventure parks, theme parks, amphitheaters, and eco-friendly resorts. Boating facilities and hotels are also on the agenda to enhance tourist experience.

The Chief Minister also directed that water purification measures are also included in the DPR and recommended that the island development be taken up under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.

To ensure safety, especially during floods, the Chief Minister ordered a detailed study of water availability and flow patterns in the Mir Alam tank. He asked that reputed environmental and hydrological institutions be engaged for surveys and clearances.

Revanth Reddy suggested linking the bridge and island zone to the nearby Nehru Zoological Park, proposing a comprehensive upgrade of the zoo in coordination with zoo authorities, aligning it with the city’s larger tourism and ecological vision.

Advisers Vem Narender Reddy and K.S. Sreenivasa Raju, MA&UD principal secretary Dana Kishore, Musi River Development Corporation joint managing director P. Gouthami and senior officials were present at the meeting.
