CM Helps Woman Who Sought Help for Her Disabled Son After Video Goes Viral

Jangaon's mother calls for help after years of neglect; the government promises support.

Warangal: A mother wept, pleading with officials to either help her disabled son or let him die here in front of the collectorate in Jangaon district on Tuesday. The video of her outcry posted on social media platforms went viral and prompted an immediate response from Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.

Following the CM’s orders, revenue and municipal officials visited the family's residence and promised swift action. They assured the family of support under the Indiramma Housing Scheme and Rajiv Yuva Vikasam programme. Additionally, arrangements are being made for Sai to receive specialised treatment at NIMS Hospital in Hyderabad.

Lakshmi, a daily-wage worker from Kurumawada of Jangaon town is the mother of Parsha Sai, a 30-year-old man born with severe physical disabilities. Unable to sit, walk or care for himself Sai has been entirely dependent on his parents since birth. His father, Parsha Mallaiah, works as a waterman with Mother and Child Health Care Centre, while Lakshmi takes up small jobs at the local Saibaba temple to make ends meet.

Sai receives a government disability pension of Rs 4,000, which barely covers the cost of adult diapers and medical expenses. The family lives in a rented home but has not received the promised zero electricity bill benefit and applications for an Indiramma housing allotment have gone unanswered.

“Are we not eligible for government schemes? If there’s no help, just end his life,” Lakshmi said.
