Clubs, Bars Raided to Curb Drug Use

According to DCP Vaibhav Gaikwad, the H-NEW has formed multiple special cluster teams that were conducting discreet checks at the establishments without causing inconvenience either to the managements or the patrons.

Hyderabad:The Hyderabad Narcotic Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) said it had launched raids across pubs, bars, clubs, and party venues in the city to detect any possible sale of narcotics. Teams backed by the law and order police, City Armed Reserve teams, and a five-member narcotic sniffer dog squad trained specifically to identify drugs were deployed.

According to DCP Vaibhav Gaikwad, the H-NEW has formed multiple special cluster teams that were conducting discreet checks at the establishments without causing inconvenience either to the managements or the patrons.

The source added that during one of the raids, a Nigerian national was detained, and authorities are examining legal options, including possible deportation, based on the outcome of the investigation.

Decoy and enforcement teams were operating across identified high-footfall entertainment pockets. Rapid drug test kits are being used to screen suspicious individuals while the narcotic sniffer dogs are deployed to detect concealed substances.

The officer stated that the initiative reflects a proactive policing strategy to secure public spaces while maintaining order during large-scale celebrations. The effort is being led by H-NEW inspectors in coordination with the Task Force, with oversight from senior leadership.
