Clear Pending Projects, Uttam Writes to Centre
Uttam Kumar Reddy also highlighted on how the CWC was reportedly moving ahead with scrutiny of AP’s Banakacharla-Nallamalasagar link project, and said the ministry must restrain the CWC on this front as the AP project was based on non-existing concept of flood waters.

Hyderabad: Irrigation minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy on Saturday urged the Union jal shakti ministry to quickly resolve several pending issues related to irrigation projects in Telangana. In a detailed letter to the ministry, he said clearances for the pending projects were “crucial for safeguarding the water rights and fulfilling irrigation needs” of Telangana.
Uttam Kumar Reddy wrote: “The pending issues require urgent deliberation and resolution” enabling “the state to seek financial assistance for completion of the projects.”
The letter was handed over to V.L. Kantha Rao, secretary, jal shakti ministry, and Anupam Prasad, chairman, Central Water Commission (CWC), by Rahul Bojja, principal secretary, irrigation of the state government.
Among the projects that Uttam Kumar Reddy highlighted were the Palamuru-Rangareddy lift irrigation scheme (PRILS) which he said was based on reallocation of 90 tmc ft of assured waters, and that the CWC was already approached to apprise the detailed project report for using 45 tmc ft under Phase-l of the project.
He pointed out that the state was waiting CWC clearances for the Samakkasagar project and urged the ministry to advise the Krishna Waters Disputes Tribunal-II to complete its hearings between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh on sharing of Krishna river waters which was holding the state from going ahead with some projects on the river.

He also urged the ministry to approve the Dr B.R. Ambedkar Pranahita-Chevella Sujala Sravanthi project, the Narayanpet Kodangal lift irrigation scheme, Integrated Sitarama lift irrigation project, and Sitammasagar multi-purpose project, PRLIS, Mukteshwar (Chinna Kaleshwaram) lift irrigation scheme, Modikuntavagu project and the Chanaka Korata (distributary system) project.
