Hyderabad: With the focus on the upcoming Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) elections to elect a new council, the crime investigation department (CID) has intensified its probe into financial irregularities involving the current leadership. CID officials questioned the accused over the alleged illegal diversion of crores of rupees from HCA funds.
The five-day police custody of the accused — HCA president Arishnapally Jagan Mohan Rao, CEO Sunil Kante, treasurer Chouti Jagannatha Srinivasa Rao, C. Rajendra Yadav (general secretary of Sri Chakra Cricket Club), and his wife Kavitha (club president) concluded on Monday. The CID is likely to produce them before court.
During the police custody period, the CID officials questioned Jagan Mohan Rao and other council members about how Jagan Mohan Rao influenced the club members to elect him. The CID is suspecting political assistance in his election and fund diversion. Officials reportedly collected documented evidence, including financial records and testimonies from several cricket club members.

Sources said the CID obtained inputs indicating serious violations during Jagan Mohan Rao’s election as HCA president. After assuming office, he and his associates allegedly diverted funds under the guise of awarding contracts. The CID seized crucial documents—both hard and soft copies—related to financial decisions, transactions and internal policies of the HCA.
Investigators found that the council, under Jagan Mohan Rao’s leadership, bypassed rules in tendering processes. Contracts for material supply, stadium construction and maintenance were reportedly awarded without public notice and given to known individuals in exchange for commissions.
The CID has also received forensic reports linking Jagan Mohan Rao to forged documents used to grant memberships to several individuals in the Sri Chakra Cricket Club at Gowlipura.
