Chilkalguda School Principal’s Agitation Solves Students Pathway Issue

The demolition of wall brought a major relief for students in attending to their classes in a hassle-free manner

Hyderabad: Traversing through narrow a lane in slush in every monsoon to reach their government primary school at Chilkalguda in Secunderabad would now be a thing of the past for students as Hydraa and GHMC officials resolved the issue on Tuesday by demolishing a compound wall that was blocking their way.

The demolition of compound wall abutting the school and a residential colony at Dhoodbavi brought a major relief for students in attending to their classes in a hassle-free manner when the school was reopened in the second week of June after summer vacation.

Both Hydraa and GHMC officials swung into action after the school principal Mallikarjuna Reddy staged a protest at the GHMC zonal office in Secunderabad highlighting the problem being faced by students because of the wall.

Accompanied by GHMC officials, a special team from Hydraa inspected the area. After examining documents, the team decided to demolish the wall after convincing the local residents. “We immediately deployed workers and razed the wall completely,” GHMC Assistant City Planner, Secunderabad Zone, VB Srinivas Rao said.

The consent of Secunderabad Zonal Commissioner N Ravi Kiran was also taken before carrying out the demolition process. With this, the students will now be able to reach the school directly instead of using the narrow lane on the other side of the school.

“The students used to face problems in monsoon while walking from the lane. Moreover, the vehicle in which mid-day meals are brought is forced to stop on the main road instead of directly reaching the school,” Rao explained.

He said all the problems were resolved by removing the compound wall in the colony. A gate would be constructed on a permanent basis immediately. “We made it clear to the school staff to lock it after school hours to restrict the entry of unauthorized persons. No marriage or other functions be allowed within the school,” he added.
