Child Found Locked Inside Anganwadi Centre in Karimnagar

A memo has been issued to ayah Lachamma, in-charge teacher Manjula, and supervisor Santoshi holding them responsible for the incident

Hyderabad: A three-year-old child was left locked in a room at an Anganwadi center in Islampur village of Gangadhara mandal in Karimnagar district.

As the Anganwadi teacher at the center was on leave for a few days, Mangapet teacher Manjula was given additional responsibilities. A child from the village went to the Anganwadi center on Tuesday along with her fellow students.

The children were sent home at 4 pm. While the child was sleeping in the center's room, the ayah, who did not recognize her, locked the Anganwadi room and left. The parents searched for the child but could not find her.

When the child woke up and started crying, the locals noticed and informed the parents. They rushed to the centre at 8 pm and brought the child out.

The child stayed at the center for about four hours. Upon receiving information, ICDS CDPO Narsingarani visited the center on Wednesday and conducted an investigation into the incident.

She said that a memo has been issued to ayah Lachamma, in-charge teacher Manjula, and supervisor Santoshi.
