Child Dies in Lift Mishap at Gowlidoddi PG

Hyderabad:A five‑year‑old girl died in a tragic accident after getting trapped in a grilled lift at a women’s PG hostel in Gowlidoddi under Gachibowli police station limits on Wednesday afternoon.
Police said a Dial‑100 call was received around noon reporting that a child was stuck in the lift at Mahi Women PG. Patrol staff rushed to the spot and found the girl dead on the third floor.
The deceased was identified as Bistu Ghosh, 5, a native of Jharkhand, who had been living with her grandparents at the hostel premises. Her grandparents have been working as cooks there for the past seven years.
Preliminary Inquiry revealed that the child entered the lift as she usually did. The lift travelled from the first floor to the fifth floor and, while descending, she became trapped in the grilled portion. Police suspect her clothes got caught in the grill, leading to grievous head injuries and heavy bleeding. Officials said the injuries caused instantaneous death.
A case is being registered and further investigation is underway.
