WARANGAL: The district administration on Wednesday set up an inter-state check-post at Kaleshwaram in Jayashankar Bhupalpally district to prevent illegal transportation of grain and ensure Minimum Support Price (MSP) for local farmers.
District civil supplies officer Kiran Kumar inaugurated the facility and said the measure aims to check inflow of grain from neighbouring states that could affect local procurement and prices.
A joint task force comprising officials from revenue, police, agriculture and civil supplies departments has been deployed for round-the-clock monitoring during the procurement season.
Kiran Kumar said strict action would be taken against illegal transport of grain. “Our priority is to ensure that the benefits of the state government’s procurement policy reach only local farmers,” he said.
All vehicles entering the district will be inspected at the check-post. Officials said produce transported without valid documents would be seized and cases registered.
Officials appealed to farmers and traders to cooperate to ensure a smooth procurement process.
