CEO Sets July 25 Deadline for Voter Forms

The SIR aims to purify the voter database by identifying and removing duplicate, dead and migrated voters. Mapping has crossed 70 per cent in Telangana, with rural areas recording over 80 per cent.

Hyderabad: Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) C. Sudarshan Reddy on Saturday announced that the special intensive revision (SIR) of the electoral roll will begin on June 25, when booth level officers (BLOs) will distribute forms during the house‑to‑house enumeration phase.

He made it clear that all voter enumeration forms must be submitted by July 25, stressing that the deadline will not be extended. “No eligible citizen should be left out and no ineligible elector should be included. This one month of enumeration is crucial, as the draft voter list will only have names of those who return their forms properly,” he said at BRKR Bhavan.

The SIR aims to purify the voter database by identifying and removing duplicate, dead and migrated voters. Mapping has crossed 70 per cent in Telangana, with rural areas recording over 80 per cent. In urban pockets, GHMC and Medchal‑Malkajgiri showed low percentages — Hyderabad (45.5 per cent), Medchal (43.5), Rangareddy (56.5) and Sangareddy (66 per cent).

Reddy said anomalies were found in 85 lakh voter records during mapping. Those with anomalies will receive notices and must produce documents before Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), who will conduct hearings similar to court proceedings. “ERO will give reasons for rejection in speaking orders. Action can also be initiated against ERO in case of mischief. There is an appeal provision to the Collector as well as the CEO,” he clarified.

He warned of strict disciplinary action against BLOs who misguide voters, enter incorrect information or violate procedures. Responding to allegations of undereducated staff deputed as BLOs in GHMC, he said most had been replaced with regular employees such as junior and senior assistants following Election Commission instructions.
