Centre to Release ₹108 Silver Coin Honouring Sri Satya Pramoda Teertha Swamiji
The coin will be unveiled at a ceremony at the Uttaradi Math at Kachiguda by Union minister Prahlad Joshi on Saturday

Hyderabad: The Centre has announced the release of Rs 108 silver commemorative coin to mark the 108th birth anniversary of Sri Satya Pramoda Teertha Swamiji, first pontiff of the Shri Uttaradi Math.
The coin will be unveiled at a ceremony at the Uttaradi Math at Kachiguda by Union minister Prahlad Joshi on Saturday. The Union finance ministry confirmed the details of the coin through a gazette notification issued on August 18.
This will be the first time in India that a coin of the unique denomination of `108 will be issued, according to a statement.
According to renowned Numismatist Sudhir Lunawat, Sri Satya Pramoda Teertha Swamiji was known for his devotion, simple lifestyle and efforts to preserve scriptures. He made exceptional contributions to the propagation of Dvaita Vedanta philosophy of Saint Madhavacharya and inspired many devotees with his disciplined life.
The `108 coin, being struck at the mint in Mumbai is also said to be the world’s first coin of this denomination made of 40 grams pure silver.
On the obverse design it details the lion capital of Ashoka with the legend ‘Satyameva Jayate’ inscribed below it. The left periphery feature ‘Bharat’ in Devanagari, on right ‘India’ in English. Below the emblem, the rupee symbol and denomination 108 in international numerals will be displayed.
On the reverse, the coin will feature a portrait of Satya Pramoda Teertha Swamiji with inscriptions in Hindi and English marking his 108th birth anniversary along with the Uttaradi Math and the year 2025.
