Centre Supporting Telangana in Electronics, Semiconductor Ecosystem: Jitin Prasada

The Centre launched the Semicon India program for the development of a sustainable semiconductor and display ecosystem

Hyderabad: The Central government has undertaken various initiatives to support electronics and semiconductor ecosystems across the country including Telangana.

Under the Design Linked Incentive (DLI) scheme, three companies in Telangana are being supported. Design infrastructure support has also been extended to 11 companies in Telangana. Moreover, under Chips to start-up programme(C2S), 22 institutes from Telangana are being supported with design tools, and half a dozen institutes are being provided financial support.

This was stated by Union Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology Jitin Prasada while replying to a question raised by Congress MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy in Lok Sabha on Wednesday on inclusion of Telangana as prospective State under India Semiconductor Mission.

He said the Central government launched the Semicon India program for the development of a sustainable semiconductor and display ecosystem. Semicon India programme is a pan India programme and the applicants were free to choose locations for their projects. Their applications are solely evaluated on technical and financial aspects by a committee of domain experts.

The University of Hyderabad, International Institute of Information Technology Hyderabad, Osmania University College of Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad, National Institute of Technology Warangal, JNTUH University College of Engineering Hyderabad and Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Hyderabad were among the 22 institutes from Telangana getting support for design tool support under C2S Programme.
