According to the annexure attached to the order, Secunderabad Cantonment has been allotted Rs.14,54,57,674 at this stage.

Hyderabad: The Union government has sanctioned ₹221.84 crore as Grant in Aid to 48 deficit Cantonment Boards for the financial year 2025–26, with the Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) allocated ₹14.54 crore.

The sanction order, issued on Monday by the directorate of general defence estates under the Ministry of Defence, states that the grant is a one-time measure to liquidate outstanding liabilities, including pay commission arrears, pensionary dues, ACP dues, electricity charges and water supply charges.

According to the annexure attached to the order, Secunderabad Cantonment has been allotted ₹14,54,57,674 at this stage.

In response, residents urged that the funds be immediately used to clear pending electricity bills of power borewells supplying drinking water. They stressed that water supply must not be disrupted due to unpaid power dues.

“Essential services like water cannot suffer because of administrative delays,” said Maninder K, calling for complete transparency in how the grant is utilised.

The order specifies that the amount must be strictly used for sanctioned purposes, with no diversion of funds permissible. It also mandates submission of an action taken report (ATR) after liquidation of liabilities.
