Centre Finalises Warangal among 7 Sites for PM MITRA Parks
The park is operational with around 548 acres of land already being allotted to investors and commercial production has started. Once completed, the project is envisaged to generate one lakh direct and two lakh indirect jobs
Hyderabad: The Central government has finalised seven sites including one in Warangal for setting up PM MITRA Parks.
The site was selected under brownfield category and Rs.300 crore has already been expended towards development of trunk infrastructure. The park was formally inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 10, 2026.
Currently, the park is operational with around 548 acres of land already being allotted to investors and commercial production has started. Once completed, the project is envisaged to generate one lakh direct and two lakh indirect jobs.
With existing commitments alone, over 24,400 direct jobs are expected to be generated. A strong majority of the workforce in operating apparel units comprises women. Structured skilling programs and local preference policies ensure gainful employment for youth and vulnerable sections, including Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST), fostering inclusive regional development.
With regards to the handloom sector, the budget is not allocated State-wise. Funds are released to eligible handloom agencies based on receipt of viable proposals under the extant scheme guidelines.
To develop integrated large scale and modern industrial infrastructure facility for entire value-chain of the textile industry, the government has approved setting up of seven PM Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel (PM MITRA) Parks in Greenfield and brownfield sites with scheme outlay of Rs.4,445 crore for the period 2021-22 to 2027-28.
This was stated by the Minister of State for Textiles Pabitra Margherita while responding to a question raised by the BJP MP M Raghunandan Rao on PM MITRA Park for Telangana in Lok Sabha on Tuesday.
