Centre Deploys 7 NDRF Teams to Flood-Hit Telangana, Says Minister Kishan

He urged the Telangana state government to prioritise the safe evacuation of residents from flood-affected zones and to ensure the provision of essential food supplies and medical aid.

Hyderabad: Union minister for coal and mines G. Kishan Reddy announced that Union home minister Amit Shah has directed the deployment of seven National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams across the state to assist in ongoing relief and rescue operations following the relentless heavy rains that have battered Telangana over the past two days.

In a statement, Kishan Reddy said that the torrential downpours have caused widespread disruption and hardship, particularly in low-lying and riverbank areas. BJP workers are also participating in support activities on the ground.

He urged the Telangana state government to prioritise the safe evacuation of residents from flood-affected zones and to ensure the provision of essential food supplies and medical aid.

The Union minister further called upon Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to immediately deploy senior officials to supervise and coordinate relief measures in the worst-hit districts.

Under the Union home ministry’s guidance, seven NDRF teams — each comprising 50 members, including structural engineers, technicians, canine units, mechanical staff, and paramedics — have been stationed in key affected areas. One team each was deployed for Nirmal, Khammam, Mulugu, Mahabubabad and Hyderabad, while two teams were sent to Bhadradri Kothagudem district.

With forecasts indicating continued heavy rainfall over the next 48 hours, Kishan Reddy urged residents, especially those in villages near rivers and streams, to exercise extreme caution and take all necessary safety measures.

“The Centre is fully committed to assisting the people of Telangana during this crisis,” Kishan Reddy stated, assuring that all possible support is being extended in coordination with the state authorities.
