Celebrity Events on Campus Raise Questions Over Safety, Legality

Hyderabad: The police booked two cases, one against the Malla Reddy University management and another on Shreyas Media, after four persons were injured when a scaffolding fell during a film pre-release event on Saturday. The event was held on the university campus. A video showed some people trying to climb a scaffolding which also held a sound box. The structure fell over under their weight, leaving four persons injured.

Police said the university obtained permission for the programme based on an estimated attendance of around 7,000 people. However, nearly 20,000 people reportedly turned up. The organisers also indicated that the programme would conclude by 10 pm, but the event continued until around 11 pm.
