Celebrations Erupt Over Army Strikes

Rallies, vigils and pride sweep ‘Army village’ and towns as locals hail anti-terror ops

Nizamabad: Celebrations broke out across Nizamabad and Kamareddy districts on Wednesday as residents hailed the Indian Army’s strikes on terrorist groups in Pakistan. Youths, in particular, enthusiastically took part in rallies held at several locations, waving the national flag and raising slogans in support of the armed forces.

Rallies were held in Nizamabad, Armoor, Balkonda and other places, reflecting widespread support for the Army's action. In Mamidipally village of Makloor mandal—widely known as an ‘Army village’ with 18 youths currently serving in the forces—jubilant scenes were witnessed following the announcement of the air strikes.

Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, retired soldier Janakiram said he left the Army four years ago. “If I am recalled, I am ready to join anti-terrorist operations again,” he said with pride. Laxmi, the mother of a jawan serving in Jammu and Kashmir, said, “We have been anxious ever since the Pahalgam attack on tourists. My son speaks to us regularly over the phone, but we are constantly worried. Still, we are proud of the Army for striking the terrorist camps.”

Meanwhile, the Congress party organised a candlelight vigil in Nizamabad on Wednesday night to honour the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir. State government advisor Mohammed Ali Shabbir, Nizamabad Urban Development Authority chairman Kesha Venu, senior leader Narala Ratnakar and others were present. They paid floral tributes to the deceased and expressed solidarity with the armed forces.
