CCTV Cameras Installed On LMD Not Functioning
The Karimnagar town police recently held a meeting with morning walkers and representatives of temples downstream of LMD bund, seeking help for installation of CCTV cameras.

KARIMNAGAR: CCTV cameras are playing a vital role in the detection of cases. The police, who are completely dependent on cameras to track the movements of the accused, are also advising people to install cameras in their localities to check crimes.
However, CCTV cameras installed in Lower Manair Dam (LMD) premises are not functioning. So, the Lake Police are facing difficulties to track the movements of people those who are trying to commit suicide by jumping into LMD as well as miscreants. There were also incidents of children feared drowning in LMD by getting down into water for swimming.

Moreover, people who visit Ujwala Park and Deer Park near the waterbody would definitely visit LMD, where there were incidents of eve-teasing. People used to attend nature’s call inside the dam. Liquor consumption, playing cards and other illegal activities were also rampant.
To put an end to these, commissionerate police established the Lake Police outpost at LMD on October 10, 2017. Besides a sub-inspector and seven cops have been deployed to conduct 24 hours patrolling in dam premises. A drone camera, binoculars, bicycles to staff, walkie-talkies and other equipment were provided to Lake Police.
CCTV cameras were also arranged in different places to monitor the situation. Besides installing cameras, they were also linked to the outpost to monitor the situation round the clock. So far, 310 people were rescued. Though all the illegal activities have been controlled, CCTV cameras are not functioning for many months.
Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, reserve sub-inspector and Lake Outpost in-charge, B. Ramesh said that he tried to repair about 16 cameras but in vain. So, they have decided to replace them with new ones with the support of philanthropists.
