CAT Gives Ultimatum to DoPT to Allocate IAS Officer to AP

CAT sets June 5 deadline for Union ministry to comply with the order to reassign officer Lotheti Siva Shankar to his home cadre.

Hyderabad: The Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) at Hyderabad on Wednesday, while dealing with a contempt case, set a deadline to the secretary of the Union ministry for DoPT to comply its orders within four weeks to reallocate the cadre of IAS officer Lotheti Siva Shankar to Andhra Pradesh.

The bench of judicial member Dr Lata Baswaraj Patne and administration member Varun Sindhu Kul Kaumudi warned the authorities to comply with the orders and submit the comply orders before it on June 5. The bench warned that if the orders had not been complied with, then the concerned authorities must face contempt proceedings.

The bench was dealing with a contempt petition filed by Siva Sankar, complaining about non-compliance of the CAT orders dated of February 28, 2025, in which the CAT bench directed the DoPT to reallocate Siva Shankar to the cadre to Andhra Pradesh as an insider, based on his domicile of Andhra Pradesh and pass appropriate orders and communicate the same to the applicant, within four weeks from the date of receipt of the order.
