Complainant Umadevi alleged that Kaushik Reddy demanded Rs.50 lakh

Hyderabad: The Subedari police in Hanamkonda booked a case against BRS MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy for threatening and demanding Rs.50 lakh from a granite businessman.

The case was booked against the BRS Huzurabad MLA under provisions of Section 308 (2) (extortion), 308 (4) (extortion by threatening) and 352 (intentional insults intended to provoke a breach of public peace) based on a complaint lodged by Katta Umadevi, a resident of Excise Colony in Hanamkonda.

In her complaint, she said that her husband Manoj Reddy, a granite business at Vangapally of Kamalapur Mandal, was suffering from mental stress since 20 days and when she asked him about it he said that Koushik Reddy threatened him stating that if he has to run granite business in Huzurabad constituency, money has to be paid.

Umadevi said the MLA extorted Rs.25 lakh from Manoj Reddy and again on April 18, 2025 the MLA made a phone call to Manoj Reddy and demanded Rs.50 lakh, or else he would kill her husband and the family members and abuse them in filthy language.
