Candidates Zero In on Teachers at Pvt Schools in MLC Elections

Both parties focus on private school educators as key voters in the graduate constituency, with the campaign intensifying on the last day.

Adilabad: The BJP and the Congress reached out to teachers of private schools seeking their support for graduates’ and teachers' MLC elections.

With Tuesday being the last day of the election campaign, Congress candidate V. Narender Reddy focused on private school teachers.

Graduate voters working as teachers in private schools may play a key role in MLC elections.

The graduates’ constituency comprises erstwhile Adilabad, Karimnagar, Nizamabad and Medak districts.

Out of a total of 3.80 lakh voters in the graduate constituency, Adilabad has 14,586 voters while Mancherial has 30,921, Nirmal 17,141 and Asifabad 6,137 voters.

Congress’ Narender Reddy is a prominent educationist who runs private educational institutions in north Telangana. It is said that Adilabad district is in second place in terms of graduate votes after Karimnagar.

The BJP’s Anji Reddy also met teachers of private schools. As part of the election campaign, BJP state president and Union minister for coal and mines G. Kishan Reddy met unemployed educated youths at the district library in Adilabad.

Local Congress leaders approached the private schools and appealed to the management to see that their teachers vote for the Congress candidate in Mancherial, Adilabad, Nirmal and Komaram Bheem Asifabad districts.

A large number of graduates attended the Congress party’s Athmeeya Sammelanam in Mancherial town which was participated by a considerable number of teachers who turned up in their dress code on February 24.
