Revanth rules out Cabinet expansion

Proposes to four new working president posts in TPCC

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Friday ruled out a Cabinet expansion in the near future. He promised to give several senior leaders, representing different sections of society, appropriate positions in the state Congress.

A delegation of state Congress leaders, including Revanth Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and irrigation minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, met AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge and general secretary (organisation) K.C. Venugopal. The team stayed back in the national capital to meet Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi on Saturday.

In an informal chat with mediapersons, Revanth Reddy said the state Congress delegation had come to Delhi to discuss with the AICC leaders matters related to the appointment of TPCC office-bearers, local body elections and the reports on the BC caste census and SC categorisation.

He added that the TPCC would have the best office-bearers to implement the Congress government's policies in Telangana and work hard for the party’s victory in the local body elections.

During the meeting with Kharge, the Chief Minister and his delegation reportedly submitted a proposal for creating four working president posts in the TPCC.

According to sources, the TPCC has proposed the names of Mohammed Azharuddin, Feroz Khan, and Khureshi from the minority community; Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy, Rohin Reddy, and Rajender from the Reddy community; Balram, Bellaiah, and Murali from the ST community; and Sampath Kumar, Preetham, and Kavvampally Satyarayana from the SC community as the four new working presidents.

The AICC will review these proposals and select one candidate from each community for the TPCC working president posts.

Revanth Reddy also invited Kharge to attend as the chief guest for a public meeting on categorisation of Scheduled Castes community sub-castes, expected to be held in Medak district at the end of this month. The Chief Minister and his team will also party leader Rahul Gandhi to the Suryapet public meeting on the BC caste census.
