Hyderabad: The Hyderabad police along with Nampally mandal revenue officer on Wednesday conducted raids on the premises of Sandeep construction and building material unit at Jummerat Bazaar in Puranaphool and apprehended a businessman for illegally storing and selling sand to customers without any permission from authorities concerned.
The raid was carried out following orders from superior officials. The arrested person K. Santhosh Singh, 37, a businessman, was a resident of Lower Dhoolpet. Around 60 tonnes of sand worth Rs.1.20 lakh were seized from the possession of the arrested person.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Task Force, Ande Srinivasa Rao, said that Sandeep was selling sand illegally without any way bills or other permit documents from the mining department. Sandeep was also found to be selling sand at a high price compared to the market price and earning money illegally by cheating innocent people.
He said that selling sand without having way bills and valid permission was illegal and if the people notice any such illegal sand business they can immediately dial-100 and report to the police.
