Burglars Steal ₹15 Lakh From Two SBI ATMs In Karimnagar
A three- to four-member gang allegedly broke open two SBI ATMs in Karimnagar and stole around ₹15 lakh using gas cutters.
Burglars allegedly broke open two State Bank of India (SBI) ATMs and decamped with about `15 lakh in cash at Durshad in Karimnagar rural mandal and Thimmapur mandal early on Sunday.
According to police, a three- to four-member gang was involved in the two burglaries. One of the suspects was dressed in women’s attire, and CCTV footage showed the person entering one of the ATM cabins.
The burglars allegedly used gas cutters to open the ATM machines and took about `8 lakh from the Thimmapur ATM and `7.13 lakh from the one at Durshad. The two incidents occurred about an hour apart, police said.
The gang entered the Thimmapur ATM around 1 am and reached Durshad at 3.34 am. After the burglary, the suspects allegedly fled towards Peddapalli in a Scorpio.
The thefts came to light after morning walkers and local residents noticed the damaged ATMs and alerted the police. Police registered cases and launched an investigation, while clues teams collected evidence from the spots.
Police suspect that the gang may have come from another state, based on its movement towards Peddapalli after the burglaries.
