Build Young India Schools For Girls First, Says Revanth

Revanth Reddy asked officials to explore setting up solar kitchens at these schools under the Pradhan Mantri Kusum scheme

Hyderabad: The state government plans to prioritise the construction of residential schools for girls in every Assembly constituency in the state during the phase one development of Young India Integrated Residential Schools. The residential schools for boys will be constructed in the subsequent phases in the next three years.
The decision was taken during a review meeting of the education department chaired by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy at the Secretariat. He reviewed the progress of construction and instructed that bills be released regularly, without delays. He asked officials to explore setting up solar kitchens at these schools under the Pradhan Mantri Kusum scheme.
The meeting also discussed the possible expansion of the breakfast and midday meal programme currently being implemented through voluntary organisations in government schools in Kodangal constituency.
Revanth Reddy asked officials to assess the feasibility of extending the scheme across Telangana. Representatives of Akshaya Patra informed the government that statewide implementation was possible if adequate land and administrative support were provided.
The Chief Minister directed officials to plan centralised kitchens, with one kitchen serving schools in two Assembly constituencies. He asked Chief Secretary Ramakrishna Rao to consult district collectors and take an early decision on allotting two acres of land or leasing land for 99 years for setting up these kitchens.
In Greater Hyderabad, the Chief Minister directed that the construction of 23 new school buildings must be completed and made ready by the start of the next academic year. He expressed concern over the Bachupally school site, which currently has only half an acre, and ordered that an additional one-and-a-half acres be allotted nearby, reiterating that every school must have a minimum of one-and-a-half acres.
Revanth Reddy instructed officials to immediately begin revising the syllabus from Classes 1 to 10 to meet present and future requirements. He also asked for faster progress on pending works at Veeranari Chakali Ilamma Women’s University.
Reviewing technical education, the Chief Minister directed officials to quickly implement the agreement signed with Tata Technologies for polytechnic colleges and said curricula must ensure guaranteed employment for every student graduating from polytechnics and the Young India Skills University.
