Budget 2026: Hyderabad To Get 3 High-Speed Rail Corridors
BioPharma and Textile Sectors To Surge

Hyderabad: Union minister G. Kishan Reddy on Friday hailed the 2026–27 Union Budget as a “Reforms Express” strengthening India’s economy and boosting jobs, infrastructure, defence, railways, pharma, agriculture and women’s welfare even as BJP Telangana state president N. Ramchander Rao said the Union Budget had positioned Telangana at the forefront with announcements such as high-speed rail corridors for Hyderabad and strengthening the state’s role as a national growth engine.
In a statement, Rao said the Budget focus on under-developed rural areas would bring smiles to every household, while emphasising self-reliance through support to domestic manufacturing, energy security, reduced import dependence, job creation, agricultural productivity, purchasing power growth, and expanded quality education and health services.
With effective policies, India is advancing at around 7 per cent growth with historic poverty reduction, ensuring inclusive progress for all sections, Rao said. He expressed confidence that the Viksit Bharat Budget would propel the nation towards developed status.
Kishan Reddy highlighted gains from reforms carried out by the Modi government, including increased FDI, rapid growth of the IT sector, self-sufficiency in critical minerals and, last year, easing of the tax structure raising personal income-tax exemption from ₹3 lakh to ₹12.5 lakh and cutting GST rates.
Kishan Reddy said state tax devolution had risen 13.5 per cent from ₹29,280 crore (2025–26) to ₹33,180 crore (2026–27). Three high-speed rail corridors originating from Hyderabad to Pune, Bengaluru and Chennai, would boost ring roads, IT, biopharma and real estate.
Speaking to newsmen, Reddy said the BioPharma Shakti scheme would elevate Hyderabad as the pharma and vaccine capital, enhancing bulk drugs, formulations, vaccines, biologics and biosimilars to achieve global hub status. Fertiliser subsidy has jumped from ₹7,000 crore to ₹1.26 lakh crore, aiding Telangana farmers. Warangal’s Kakatiya Mega Textile Park would gain from the Tex-Eco push. He welcomed the announcement of STEM girls’ hostels for all 33 districts.
The rail budget grew by 10 per cent to ₹2.77 lakh crore. MSMEs received a ₹10,000 crore fund for 38 lakh units. Other measures include IT safe harbour tweaks, incentives for municipal bonds, a tax holiday for data centres till 2047, and ₹28,740 crore allocation for MRTS and metro projects. Rural missions were launched, along with a corridor for critical minerals involving Odisha, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh, aimed at self-reliance.
