BRS Won’t Return To Power: Ponguleti

“Now, we all know the condition of the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme”: Revenue minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy

NALGONDA: Revenue minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy on Saturday said the BRS would not return to power in the next elections.

Addressing a Praja Darbar at Bodulabanda in Nelakondapalli mandal of Khammam district, the minister alleged that BRS leaders were resorting to false propaganda against the Congress government due to growing public support for it.

He accused the previous BRS government of neglecting welfare of the poor and alleged irregularities in the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme. “Now, we all know the condition of the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme,” he said.

He said the Congress would retain power in the next elections, citing support in local body polls as an indication of public sentiment.

Highlighting welfare measures, the minister said the government has implemented schemes including 200 units of free electricity, supply of fine rice to ration cardholders, issuance of new ration cards and free bus travel for women in TGSRTC services. He said 4.5 lakh Indiramma houses have been sanctioned in the first phase.

He said the second phase of housing would begin by the end of May and houses would be allotted to all eligible beneficiaries in a phased manner irrespective of political affiliation.

The minister said applications under the Sada Bainama scheme would be processed and attempts to encroach on government land using such documents would not be allowed.

District collector T.S. Divakara said petitions received at the Praja Darbar would be addressed as per government guidelines.
