BRS Will Lose Deposits In Upcoming Elections: Deputy CM

Despite debts, Congress govt. fulfilling all promises: Ponguleti

Warangal, July 8: Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said the BRS received zero seats in the Lok Sabha elections and is unlikely to retain even its security deposits in the upcoming local body elections.

Speaking at a public meeting held at Somla Thanda on the occasion, Bhatti said that “the previous BRS government failed to provide irrigation water even to ten acres after spending over ₹1 lakh crore on Kaleshwaram project. The Congress government is earning the people’s trust by implementing welfare schemes worth ₹1 lakh crore to cover every household.”

He said BRS leaders were making baseless remarks and statements against Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy as they were unable to digest the goodwill the government was gaining among people.

“The Chief Minister explained how to utilise Krishna and Godavari river waters and how the state was unfairly treated in water-sharing during the last 10 years of BRS rule. The Congress government is ready to discuss the Krishna and Godavari basin projects and water sharing in the Assembly. Does KCR have the courage to come forward for such a discussion,” he asked.

Bhatti said the peak power demand during the BRS government was 17,162 megawatts. “This year, it rose by an additional 2,000 megawatts. Despite this, there have been no power cuts, and farmers are receiving 24-hour free electricity with quality service across the state,” he explained.

The minister said the government under the Indira Sowra Giri Jana Vikasam scheme aims to help tribal communities live with dignity by bringing land distributed under the Forest Rights Act into cultivation. “An allocation of `12,600 crore has been made to provide free solar pumps, sprinklers, drip irrigation systems, and plants like avocado and bamboo to Podu farmers. The government also plans to make one crore women millionaires by providing ₹20,000 crore in interest-free loans to DWCRA women every year,” he added.

Revenue minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy said that the Indiramma Praja Palana government is the state was fulfilling all its promises and successfully implementing welfare schemes in the state while simultaneously repaying the debts incurred by the previous BRS government.

Even though the state’s financial situation is challenging, in the past 17 months, the government has provided 200 units of free electricity, free bus travel for women, and a `500 subsidy on gas cylinders.

“Fulfilling its promise, the people’s government has waived farmers’ loans worth ₹21,000 crore within three months. It also deposited ₹9,000 crore into the bank accounts of farmers under the Rythu Bharosa scheme within nine days of the monsoon’s onset. In contrast, the BRS government deposited only ₹25,000 crore in four instalments over its ten-year tenure, which was not even enough to cover the interest on the loans taken by the farmers,” he pointed out.

Ministers Tummala Nageswara Rao, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, Danasari Anasuya Seethakka, Konda Surekha, Deputy Speaker Ramchander Naik and Chief Minister’s chief adviser Vem Narendar Reddy were present at the meeting.
