KTR: BRS Won’t Fight MLC Polls
The only poll the BRS contested after its drubbing in last year's Lok Sabha elections was the Legislative Council election from the MLA quota on March 20

Hyderabad: BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao said the party would boycott the April 23 Hyderabad local authorities constituency MLC election. It has not fielded a candidate in the election. Rama Rao said a whip will be issued to BRS corporators in the GHMC Council to not to take part in the voting.
The BRS had earlier stayed away from the February 27 elections to two teacher and one graduate constituency MLC seats in the state.
The contest in the April 23 election is between the BJP’s N. Goutham Rao and AIMIM’s Mirza Sayeed Ul Hassan Effendi. The Congress is supporting the AIMIM candidate.
The only poll the BRS contested, after the drubbing in the Lok Sabha elections last year, was to the Legislative Council from the MLA quota on March 20 last. BRS candidate Dr Sravan Dasoju was declared elected, along with three from Congress and one from the CPI as there were no other contestants for these seats.
Rama Rao, addressing meeting of party leaders from the city as part of preparations for the April 27 party silver jubilee celebrations and the public meeting at Elkathurthi in Warangal district, said the state will see byelections soon for the seats from which party legislators had defected to the Congress.
“The BRS is strong in the city, stronger than Congress and the BJP. Resentment among people against the Congress is increasing because of the failure of the Revanth Reddy government, and all of us must be prepared for the coming byelections,” Rama Rao said.
He also questioned Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s silence on the ‘National Herald’ case in which Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi have been named by the Enforcement Directorate in its chargesheet. “Revanth Reddy has not uttered a single word on the issue, or against the BJP government targeting his party’s top leaders. This is further proof of the close ties between ‘Chote Bhai’ Revanth Reddy and ‘Bade Bhai’ Prime Minister Modi,” he said.
Rama Rao added “the eight BJP MPs from the state constantly attack and criticize KCR but don’t say a word against Revanth Reddy. They protect him like a shield.”
