BRS Threatens Protest Over Delay In Kannepalli Pumping
The leaders claimed that more than 750 TMC ft of Godavari water had flowed into the sea since June: Reports

WARANGAL: BRS MLAs on Saturday demanded the immediate commencement of pumping from the Kannepalli Pump House, alleging that Godavari water was flowing into the sea while Hyderabad residents faced drinking water shortages. They warned of a protest at Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s residence if the situation was not addressed.
BRS MLAs Devireddy Sudheer Reddy, Madhavaram Krishna Rao, K.P. Vivekananda Goud, Marri Rajasekhar Reddy and Bandari Lakshma Reddy, along with former minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao and former MLA Gandra Venkata Ramana Reddy, visited the Kannepalli Pump House, part of the Kaleshwaram Project.
The leaders claimed that more than 750 TMC ft of Godavari water had flowed into the sea since June. They argued that pumping even 250 TMC could have increased water storage in reservoirs and tanks.
MLA Marri Rajasekhar Reddy alleged that Hyderabad was not receiving regular drinking water supply even once every three days and that low water pressure was causing hardship to residents. Sudheer Reddy claimed that around 7,000 water tanker bookings were being recorded daily in October, which he cited as an indication of the severity of the shortage.
Vivekananda Goud alleged that engineers who had suggested pumping water from Kannepalli had been threatened by the Chief Minister. The BRS leaders urged the government to prioritise Hyderabad’s drinking water needs instead of engaging in political criticism over the Kaleshwaram Project.
They demanded that pumping operations begin immediately to ensure drinking water supply to Hyderabad and warned that they would launch protests with the public if no action was taken.
