BRS Slams Revanth for Scaring New Irrigation Engineers
In a statement, senior BRS leader and former irrigation minister T Harish Rao said Revanth Reddy’s comments at the event where appointment orders were handed over to assistant engineers and technical officers, were designed to strike fear among the recruits.

Hyderabad: The BRS on Wednesday accused Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy of scaring new recruits to the irrigation department by saying that the National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA) and the vigilance reports on the Kaleshwaram project barrages had called for “hanging” the irrigation engineers involved in the project’s construction.
In a statement, senior BRS leader and former irrigation minister T Harish Rao said Revanth Reddy’s comments at the event where appointment orders were handed over to assistant engineers and technical officers, were designed to strike fear among the recruits.
“Instead of saying good things to encourage them, Revanth sought to strike fear in them. Will NDSA and the vigilance department call for hanging officials? Is this democracy or autocracy? Such an ignorant person will be hard to find anywhere in the world. Revanth is no engineer, or an irrigation expert. On what basis can he warn that engineers who follow suggestions from politicians will be put behind bars,” Harish Rao asked.
He also rejected Revanth Reddy’s comments that the Kaleshwaram project did not provide any irrigation. “In the White Paper issued in the Assembly, this Congress government acknowledged that the project irrigated 20 lakh acres in all including areas where irrigation was stabilised. It was the BRS government which also completed 12 km of the SLBC tunnel and spent Rs 3,900 crore on this. Instead of constantly lying, Revanth Reddy should release a white paper on just how many acres were added as ayacut under his administration,” Harish Rao said.
