BRS silver jubilee meet uncertain after City Police Act enforced

The BRS’ Silver Jubilee public meeting, scheduled for April 27 in Elkathurthy mandal of Hanamkonda district, is shrouded in uncertainty after the enforcement of the City Police Act within the Warangal Police Commissionerate jurisdiction.

Warangal:The BRS’ Silver Jubilee public meeting, scheduled for April 27 in Elkathurthy mandal of Hanamkonda district, is shrouded in uncertainty after the enforcement of the City Police Act within the Warangal Police Commissionerate jurisdiction.

The event, announced just a few days ago by party leadership and expected to mobilise lakhs of supporters, now faces the possibility of cancellation as tensions rise over whether the meeting can proceed under the new restrictions.

Warangal police commissioner Sun Preet Singh issued orders enforcing the City Police Act for a month beginning April 6, which prohibits public meetings, rallies, and processions in the area. In addition, public consumption of alcohol and the use of DJ sounds have been banned to safeguard vulnerable groups and reduce noise pollution.

Despite these restrictions, BRS leaders remain committed to the Silver Jubilee celebrations. Party district unit president Dasyam Vinay Bhaskar confirmed that formal permission has been sought from the police department, but no response has been received to date.

“This is a conspiracy orchestrated by the Congress,” Bhaskar told Deccan Chronicle. “Unable to tolerate the overwhelming response from the public, they are afraid that our Silver Jubilee meeting will be a massive success, with lakhs of supporters showing interest. That is why either by hook or by crook, they want to create hurdles and stop the event.”

Amid ongoing debates within the party, BRS leaders are considering legal intervention and may approach the courts to challenge the restrictions. Party chief K. Chandrashekar Rao has reportedly been holding a series of strategy meetings with leaders from various districts at his farmhouse in Erravelli, Siddipet district, to ensure that the event goes ahead as planned.
