BRS Silence on Kaleshwaram Findings Raises Eyebrows

Hyderabad: The conspicuous silence of the BRS over the Justice P.C. Ghose commission of inquiry allegedly indicting former chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao and former irrigation minister T. Harish Rao in the Kaleshwaram project damage has sparked widespread speculation in political circles. The party chief has reportedly passed a gag order on the matter.
The commission, which submitted its report to the government on July 31, is reported to have pinpointed the role of Chandrashekar Rao and Harish Rao and recommended their criminal prosecution, though the report is yet to be made public officially.
Leaked excerpts of the commission’s findings dominated the media headlines on Sunday. The purported findings reportedly hold the two leaders accountable for serious lapses and irregularities that led to structural and financial issues in the Medigadda, Annaram, and Sundilla barrages, all part of the ambitious Kaleshwaram lift irrigation scheme (KLIS). Despite the gravity of the revelations, the BRS leadership has maintained a studied silence.
Party sources revealed that Chandrashekar Rao convened a closed-door meeting for over three hours at his Erravalli farmhouse on Sunday, attended by top leaders including BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao, Harish Rao, former ministers Vemula Prashanth Reddy and Talasani Srinivas Yadav and senior leaders from Karimnagar, Medak, Nalgonda, and Warangal districts.
According to sources, Chandrashekar Rao instructed party leaders to not react publicly until the state government officially releases the report or discloses its findings.
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has called for an emergency Cabinet meeting on Monday to discuss the commission's report, a move closely watched by the BRS. Chandrashekar Rao has reportedly advised his colleagues to wait for the Cabinet's outcome before formulating any party response.
