BRS Seeks Uninterrupted Agri Power Supply
Farmers were facing severe hardships as the sufficient and quality power has not been supplied to the agriculture sector: Karimnagar MLA Gangula Kamalakar

KARIMNAGAR: The BRS called on the government to protect standing crops with a reliable agricultural power supply. BRS leaders, along with farmers, staged rasta roko at Durshad of Karimnagar rural mandal on Sunday.
Participating in the protest, Karimnagar MLA Gangula Kamalakar said that farmers were facing severe hardships as the sufficient and quality power has not been supplied to the agriculture sector.
The government was not in a position to supply continuous electricity to the agriculture sector for at least four hours. Farmers were unable to supply water to the entire crop at one go due to an interrupted power supply.
As a result, besides the withering of crops, agriculture pump sets have also been burnt, imposing an additional financial burden on the farming community. It was the responsibility of the state government to supply quality electricity to the agriculture sector. However, the government was going away from its responsibility.
Though the scientists had already warned about El Nino well in advance, the government had not prepared to face the situation.
Reacting to the government’s statement against sowing crops in the Rabi season, Kamalakar wanted the government to provide a compensation of ₹20,000 per acre for Kharif crops and ₹30,000 for the Rabi season.
People were also exposed to various health problems due to hot weather conditions. So, it was also mandatory to provide financial support to the people, he said.
