BRS Leaders Inspected Medigadda To Defend Kaleshwaram Legacy

BRS leaders inspect Medigadda Barrage, defend project

WARANGAL: A delegation of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leaders, including former ministers, MPs and MLAs, visited the Medigadda Barrage, part of the Kaleshwaram project, at Mahadevpur mandal in Jayashankar Bhupalpally district on Saturday.

Led by former minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao and former Manthani MLA Putta Madhukar, the team inspected the structural condition of the seventh block of the barrage. The visit comes two days ahead of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s scheduled inspection of the project.
The leaders said the visit was aimed at assessing the current status of the project and defending its significance for irrigation in the state. They interacted with on-site staff and reviewed ongoing technical assessments.
The delegation also included Council Opposition leader Sirikonda Madhusudhana Chary, Jangaon MLA Palla Rajeshwar Reddy, and former ministers Koppula Eshwar and Dr Rajaiah.
The BRS leaders said the Kaleshwaram project continues to be a key source of irrigation support for farmers and alleged that the reported structural issues were being exaggerated for political reasons. They stated that the barrage could be restored if addressed with proper technical intervention.
Following the inspection, the leaders criticised the Congress government, alleging that the visit by the Chief Minister was politically motivated. Former minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao alleged that the Chief Minister’s focus on Medigadda was intended to divert attention ahead of BRS leader K. Chandrashekar Rao’s public meeting in Jagtial.
Former MLA Putta Madhukar also questioned the government’s stand on irrigation and local issues, alleging selective targeting of the project while ignoring other concerns in the region.
The leaders maintained that the project has benefited farming communities by improving groundwater levels and irrigation coverage, and accused the government of delaying repairs and creating unnecessary controversy around the project.
