BRS Leader Jagadish Reddy Accuses Ministers Of Favouring Millers

Jagadish Reddy held the two ministers responsible for alleged irregularities in paddy procurement and rejected their explanation citing shortage of hamalis for delays.

Nalgonda: BRS leader and former minister Guntakandla Jagadish Reddy on Monday alleged that ministers N. Uttam Kumar Reddy and Komatireddy Venkat Reddy were acting in favour of millers and private traders at the cost of farmers’ interests.

Addressing a ‘Maha Dharna’ organised by the BRS at the Nalgonda Collectorate, he said that he was making the allegations with proofs. He alleged that farmers were incurring losses due to excess deductions of five to 10 quintals at paddy procurement centres under the pretext of husk. He further claimed that after loading, weighbridge measurements showed six to 10 quintals less, and payments were made accordingly, reducing farmers’ earnings.

Jagadish Reddy held the two ministers responsible for alleged irregularities in paddy procurement and rejected their explanation citing shortage of hamalis for delays. He said paddy procurement was carried out smoothly during the Covid-19 period under the previous BRS government.

BRS general secretary R.S. Praveen Kumar alleged that ministers were only staging visits to procurement centres without addressing farmers’ issues. He said Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy had not visited any procurement centre despite holding frequent review meetings and alleged that the Congress government had failed in procurement.

At the end of the protest, BRS leaders submitted a memorandum to additional district collector J. Srinivas outlining their demands.

BRS district president Ramavath Ravindra Kumar Naik and party leaders Badugula Lingaiah Yadav, Kancherla Bhupal Reddy, Gadari Kishore, N. Bhaskar Rao and Chirumathy Lingaiah also participated in the dharna.
